AMED – A delegation from the Turkey-based Revolutionary Workers' Union Confederation (DİSK) announced the results of their analysis in Rojava, saying that 12,000 workers were ready to join the reconstruction process.Serdar said the immediate, unconditional opening of the border gates was crucial for this to take place, so that construction equipment can enter the city along with qualified personnel, experts and workers.

DİSK Regional Representative SerdarEkingencondemned the devastation that the 15-person delegation saw in their February 16 visit to Kobanê, saying "new tragedies would be unavoidable" if the process of return to the city did not take place in a controlled manner with expert supervision.

Serdar reported that 80 percent of the city is destroyed, with dead bodies still present in the ruinsposing a major health risk. Water, electric and sewage systems have completely collapsed, meaning contagious diseases are likely as the weather gets warmer. The delegation analyzed the presence of traps, explosives and mines left behind by Daesh as they retreated and determined that they needed to be removed by experts immediately.

Other needs include generators, body bags, portable toilets, medicine, drinking water, food, cleaning and sterilization products, medicine to combat contagious disease and first-aid centers in both the city and the surrounding countryside. The delegation will produce a report available to interested institutions.
