AMED – Adile Öztürk, 28, was found dead in her home in the İskender Paşa neighborhood of Diyarbakır's central Sur district in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday. Signs of head wounds and bleeding from her vagina indicate that she may have been raped and then killed.

Adile's landlord Mehmet Alınteri Peri and a friend have been brought in to give testimony to the police in the case of the woman, who had moved into the home three months ago. Adile was from Mardin. Neighbors say they had not seen her for around a week and did not know her well. Owing to a foul smell coming from the house, her neighbors and landlord entered the home. They immediately called the police on finding her naked body in the bathroom.

The preliminary autopsy indicates that Adile passed away several days earlier. Women's groups in Diyarbakir will join Adile's family, who lives in Istanbul, in buryingthe woman.
