IZMIR – Approximately 100 members of a fascist pan-Turkic group known as the "idealists" attacked pro-Kurdish students with chopping kniveson the campus of Ege University, near the Literature Department.

Fırat Çakıroğlu, known as the "captain" of the fascist group, passed away while being treated in the hospital after the event.

The fascist studentsattacked three pro-Kurdish students,NurullahSemo,MevalDuygu and SezginYılmazalong with the manager of the campus' Ege Café. The manager had refused to surrender video recordings to the fascists.

Riot police put the campus under blockade, with police waiting while fascist youths attacked, apparently guarding them. Police also blockaded the library when pro-Kurdish students entered it.

Nationalists also attacked Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) representatives and members of the press who attempted to enter the Ege University Medical Faculty Hospital to speak with the wounded students.

The café manager and three students are wounded.StudentNurullahSemo is in critical condition.
