MERSIN – Transwoman İpek Kaya is currently being treated in a hospital after two men forced her into a car late last night in Mersin, then beat her to the point of death and left her for dead.

The men forced İpek, 40, into a private vehicle and carried her to an orange orchard on Bekirde Road in the Karacailyas Neighborhood. There, they knifed her in the legs and beat her with orange tree branches to the point of death. The orange grove workers found İpek, whose attackers had abandoned her for dead, in the morning. She was taken to the Mersin Public Hosptail for emergency treatment.

The co-chair of Mersin Akdeniz visited İpek in the hospital. An investigation into the attack is underway.
