IZMIR – In Izmir, International Women's Day will be celebrated all weekend long with panels and marches. Women have voted not to allow men into any of the celebrations.

On March 7, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) will hold a march in the spirit of the women of Kobanê, starting at Cumhuriyet Square. HDP Diyarbakır MP NurselAydoğan will speak at the march.

On March 8, The Izmir Women's Platform havecalled for a daytime march starting at Lozan Square. A coalition of feminist groups have called for a March 8 "take back the night" evening march of trans and cis women, meeting at Azra Has street.

Friday, March 6 will also see a 10 a.m. panel and film screening on the topic of ending violence against women, held by the women's studies branch of the Ege University Social Sciences Institute.
