ANKARA – Sırrı Süreyya Önder, a member of the İmralı Delegation of opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) members meeting with jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and independent Diyarbakır MP and noted Kurdish politician Leyla Zana have traveled to İmralı Island, where the PKK leader is imprisoned.

The most recent meeting with Abdullah Öcalan took place on February 27, after which the İmralı Delegation stood alongside representatives of the ruling government to release a 10-point draft plan for the peace process and to announce that the PKK would convene in spring to discuss disarmament.

The meeting today is expected to involve discussion of developments in the Middle East, inter-Kurdish relations and the proposed national congress of Kurdish representatives from the four parts of Kurdistan. The delegation expects to transmit a message from the PKK leader to Masoud Barzani, the president of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.

Leyla Zana is not a member of the İmralı Delegation, but has previously traveled to İmralı. In the past, she has sent Öcalan's messages to Barzani.
