NEWS CENTER – The YPJ Command sent its greetings to all women of the world today, promising to escalate the struggle for women's liberation.

"We are preparing for a new spring in women's history," said the statement, which said the Rojava revolution had seen women become self-confident and strong. "This spring will be enlivened by the colors of women's resistance in Shengal and Kobanê. With thousands of women ready to sacrifice themselves in resistance, the spring of 2015 will be a triumphant one.

"The Rojava women's revolution was accomplished through women's consciousness of their own historical responsibility. Women wanted to bring their history of beauty into this century," said the statement. "The first step women took was to secure their own defense by founding the YPJ, whose first principle is self-defense.

"Women volunteered and gave everything not just for themselves, but for all women of the world," the statement continued. "Rêvana, Arîn Mîrxan, Şîlan, Jiyan, Newal, Viyan, Gulan and all the other women who lost their lives resisting the Daesh gangs illuminated the road before us. These women, with their pure souls and sacrificial natures, fought terror on behalf of humanity."

The statement said that the YPJ took on the responsibility of fighting for all four parts of Kurdistan and for all of humanity. Women's rebellion against forces that would attack them signaled a new point in the struggle for freedom, said the statement.

"The presence of Kurdish, Arap and Assyrian women in the ranks of the YPJ has driven the enemy into a seething depression. Shengal women sent the world a message when they lit their own bodies on fire: they proved that no one would steal their sanctity from them. The ululations of the women of Rojava have left the enemies mind in tatters. They've written the legend of an escape from slavery, with stout hearts and strong resistance.

"As the YPJ Command, we promise to broaden the field of struggle. We are calling on women around the world to enhance their own self-defense, to claim their rights and to develop themselves in every way possible. We want to see women take the road of the martyrs and the philosophy of women's liberation and struggle as their own lodestars."

The statement wished all women of the world, as well as imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, a happy March 8.
