KOBANÊ – Hundreds of women marched in Kobanê, many of them YPJ fighters, ending up at the ŞehitDicle Cemetery, where they left flowers on the graves of YPG/YPJ fighters.
The women's organization YekîtiyaStar called the march, which started at their building. "From Shengal to Kobanê, we're all YPJ" chanted the women, who carried posters of YPG/YPJ fighters lost in the resistance and of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan as they marched along the city's Aleppo Road.
Azime Deniz, a YPJ commander, mentioned the March 8 message released by Abdullah Öcalan in her speech.
"The message said that no woman wants to live in an oppressed city. We as YPJ fighters are struggling so that not one woman is oppressed, because we don't want to live in a place where women are oppressed and denied," said Azime.
Fatma Oso, the director of the association of families of martyrs, also spoke.
