'Freedom for Öcalan' march continues on 2nd day

ŞIRNEX – The "Freedom for Öcalan" march from the Cizre district of Şırnak province to Amed (Diyarbakır) is entering its second day.


The "Freedom for Öcalan" march started on Saturday with the participation of hundreds of people, including HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) officials. It resumed in the morning hours today, after its first pause last night.


Activists in the march and supporters surrounding it carried the flags of PKK, KCK, posters of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan. They passed the night in tents in the Sivikê village,near Cizre. The activists started a fire and danced around it for hours along the night.


More people, including elected representatives, are joining the marchalong its route. Activists are expected to walk 37 kilometers a day by March 21, when they willreach the main Kurdish city Amed for Newroz celebrations there.
