AMED –The Peace Mothers Assembly in Diyarbakır (Amed) announced that in this year's historic Newroz celebrations, they hoped to see Öcalan among the attendees.

Many Peace Mothers joined in the action. Peace Mother HavvaKıran expressed her desire for jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to be able to join in the Newroz celebration.

We sent our children to the mountains not for death, but to build a new life," said Havva. "We want the Leader Apo, who started the first spark of the fire for freedom, among us. May Öcalan's freedom be the first step to peace. May this Newroz be the first step to peace."

Havva said she wanted to see March 21 be a day of freedom for all Kurdish people. She condemned those collaborating with Daesh.
