NEWS CENTER – The World March of Women has reached Thessaloniki after leaving behind their last stop in Turkey, the city of Izmir.

The women arrived at Aristotelous Square to the strain of "Ciao Bella" and the greetings of a crowd of women bearing banners and flags—including striking Coca-Cola workers, laid-off municipal employees and feminist collectives. After the enthusiastic greeting, the women headed off to explore the city. An evening musical performance was arranged at the area women's solidarity headquarters.

Syriza's Gender Policy Division had supported the March. They called on women of the Thessaloniki area to take part in the activities, which will includea press conference today at noon. Women will share the problems and struggles of women in Turkey and Kurdistan that they have witnessed on their journey, which is now in its second week. Later, a forum with Thessaloniki social movements is planned.

"No women is free until all women are free!" announced the area women's solidarity group that is organizing the Thessaloniki solidarity activities. The March will be in the city until March 19th.
