Freedom for Öcalan march at halfway point

MÊRDÎN - The "Freedom for Öcalan" march from the Cizre district of Şırnak province to the main Kurdish city Amed continues on its fifth day.


The activists reached the Akıncılar (Qesra Qelendera) village in Mardin province during the evening hours on Tuesday. The village marked the halfway point of their journey. After spending the night in Akıncılar village, the activists set out at the morning hours again. 


Activists demanding freedom for PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan are expected to walk about 40 kilometers a day before reaching the main Kurdish city Amed to celebrate Newroz, the Kurdish New Year, on March 21.
