QAMIŞLO–In the Rojava city of Qamişlo, hundreds have gathered from the city and its surrounding villages to light the traditional fire of Newroz, the Kurdish New Year.

The canton of Cizîre has begun to celebrate the holiday with fires and dancing. Celebrations will continue until the night of March 21^st, the day of the New Year and the culmination of a week of celebrations.

The city of Qamişlo saw dancing late into the night last night, after a moment of silence was held to honor those lost for the revolution and a march across the city.

Elsewhere in the canton, in the village of KeçelEreb, YPG/YPJ fighters held their own celebrations, singing revolutionary marches.
