RIHA – The artist Zelal Gökçe, detained in the wake of her performance at Newroz celebrations, has been released as of yesterday.

Zelal Gökçe is a singer with the Mesopotamia Culture Center who performed at the history Suruç Newroz (Kurdish New Years) celebrations on Tuesday before a massive crowd.

Turkish police took Zelal into custody at a hotel in Urfa province following the performance. She was brought to the police headquarters in the city. Gökçe was taken to the court. She was released after delivering testimony.
