ÊLIH – Police have attacked Newroz celebrations in Batman with tear gas and plastic bullets. Many have been wounded.

At the Batman Newroz celebrations, crowds overfilled the square and many headed for the local inter-city bus terminal to light their Newroz fire. The police used this as justification to open an attack on the crowd with pressurized water cannons, tear gas and plastic bullets, wounding many.

The crowds are moving towards the site of the intervention.
