IZMIR – Fascist football fans attacked three people returning from Newroz celebrations in Izmir yesterday. Police arrested the three young people attacked, although not the fascist attackers.

The three people, all between the ages of 15 and 17, were returning from the large Newroz celebrations when the fans of the Fenerbahçe football team attacked them. The attack took place near the Bornova metro station.

"Turkey is Turkish, it will stay Turkish," said the two football fans, as they came after the three Newroz celebrants. Two teenage boys fled into a nearby clothing store. The fascists attacked one of the store employees in an attempt to reach the two men.The third person attacked, a woman, was protected by the crowd that gathered to support them.

After standing by as the fascist football fans left the scene of the crime, police arrested the three people who were attacked.
