Truth commissions starting in Kurdistan's villages

AMED –Civil society organizations have announced a new effort to research the 1990s forced evacuation and destruction of villages in Northern Kurdistan.
The Mesopotamia Legal Professionals' Association (MHD) and Association for Social Aid and Culture to Migrants (GÖÇ-DER) have announced a research project into the Turkish state's destruction and evacuation of thousands of villages in Northern Kurdistan between 1984 and 2013, which displaced millions of people.
The project, called the Commission for Researching Truths, will begin work in pilot regions. The first pilot villages will be two villages in Diyarbakır province.
