AMED – The Congress of Free Women (KJA) has called for escalation of women's self-defense organizing in the wake of the killing of three women in a dispute over landed property in a village in Şırnak, in Northern Kurdistan.
A property dispute yesterday in the village of Xelanî (Yağmur in Turkish) claimed the lives of three women. Two more women are severely wounded. The KJA wished condolences to the families of the women killed. They called for women to organize themselves against feudal societal structures.
"In the century we live in, we see massacres of women, in the strictest sense, every single day," said the KJA. "The target of feudalism's tired property disputes is once again women. As long as women do not defend themselves and organize, they will continue to face the hegemonic mindset's attempts to destroy them through harassment, rape and femicide."
