ESSEN – "Society lost its freedom with the repression of women," was the slogan of the second Europe conference of the PYD Women's Section in Essen.

70 representatives from women's groups across Europeand Rojava's Democratic Union Party (PYD) officials gathered in the German city to discuss recent developments in Rojava and to make plans for the coming years, in the second such gathering to be held in Europe.

Xezne Hesen, the PYD's women's sections European official, and Gulbahar Hesen, the PYD Aid Council representative for Europe, were present at the conference, where photographs of Abdullah Öcalan and YPG/YPJ fighters decorated the meeting room.
