Northern Kurdish women celebrate Öcalan's 66th

NEWS CENTER – The main celebration of jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan's birthday, which has become a symbol of the Kurdish people's resistance and demand for the liberation of Öcalan and all political prisoners, is ongoing in Öcalan's native Halfeti. In other regions of Kurdistan, celebrations of April 4 have been held as well.
A neighborhood in the city of Siirt held an unveiling ceremony today for April 4 Park, where thousands gathered to plant hundreds of trees. "We hope that in the shortest possible time, our president and all his jailed comrades can be here with us," said Siirt co-mayor BelkızaBeştaşEpözdemir. A convey of buses then set off from Siirt for the celebrations in Amara.
In Nusaybin, the Peace Mothers Assembly and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) youth assembly also held a celebration of April 4 today, sending their greetings to Öcalan's mother, Üveyşe and cutting a cake in the leader's honor.
In Van, the Rojîn Women's Life Center and cooperative textile workshop invited women and children for a celebration of the leader's birthday, at which they cut a cake.
