Victim of possible femicide buried in Siirt

SÊRT – Sonçicek Kocaağa, the women in the Kurdish province of Siirt who died under suspicious circumstances while pregnant, was buried yesterday.
On Wednesday night, villagers in the village of Beytarûn (called İkizler in Turkish) heard gunshots. Sonçicek, 30, was found dead from a bullet that broke the window of her house and entered her shoulder. She was six months pregnant.
Who killed Sonçiçek is still unclear, but local women are concerned. They joined the funeral held by her loved ones yesterday. Local politicians from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP), including co-mayor Belkıza Beştaş Epözdemir, also attended the funeral.
The baby Sonçiçek lost has been sent to Adana for a DNA test.
