AMED – Hundreds joined in the cemetery of YJA Star guerrilla Tuba Taylan, nom de guerre Arjîn Amed, in Diyarbakır on Friday.

Arjîn, long a member of the press team in the YJA Star guerrilla forces, died of lung cancer recently. Women shouldered her coffin, bedecked in the flags of the KCK and PKK, to her gravesite in Diyarbakır.

Speaking at the cemetery, MEYA-DER Diyarbakır Branch Co-chair Ayşe Dicle said that Taylan went to the mountains and joined the guerrilla against the patriarchal system. "We will not abandon your path," she said.

Representatives from Kurdish women's journalist association RAJIN (Women's Communication) said that Arjîn's "pen and camera will not stay where she left them, we promise."

Her funeral saw mass attendance. Hundreds of people, including Party of Democratic Regions (DBP) and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), MEYA-DER executives, co-mayors and activists of Peace Mothers Assembly attended the funeral. The crowd bore flags of the PKK, KCK and posters of Arjin, chanting "martyrs are immortal" along the funeral route.

In the wake of speeches, the mass of people visited the condolence tent.

"Our comrade Arjîn made every moment in the guerrilla permanent with her pen and her camera," said RAJIN, "as a guerrilla and lover of the mountains."
