TIRBESPIYÊ – A group of fifteen Rojavan Arab and Kurdish young women celebrated their graduation from basic training and joined the YPJ yesterday in the city of Tirbespiyê.

The women graduated from the local branch of the YPJ educational system, the Martyr Şîlan Academy, at the Tirbespiyê branch, named after the martyr Nejbîr. The women had just completed a two-month course on women's history, the history of Kurdistan, capitalist modernity, politics and morality. They also received self-defense training.

The women formally took their oath to join the YPJ yesterday in a military ceremony. Arab YPJ fighter ViyanQamişlo said that the educational process was an occasion for her to recognize her own identity and to think about the importance of living together. The ceremony ended with traditional dancing by the women, who cried YPJ slogans.
