MERSIN – The Tarsus 1st High Criminal Court has accepted the prosecutor's indictment in the case of murdered university student Özgecan Aslan, who has become a symbol of women's rebellion in Turkey.

Özgecan Aslan, a university student in Mersin province, was brutally killed in February by the driver of a minibus she had taken on the way from Tarsus to Mersin after she attempted to defend herself from rape with pepper spray. After an investigation into the savage killing of the 20-year-old university student, the prosecutor submitted the indictment to the local court on April 9.

The indictment demands aggravated life sentence for the three suspects, Suphi Altındöken, Fatih Gökçe and Necmettin Altındöken.
