QAMIŞLO – The city of Qamişlo, in Rojava, held an opening ceremony for the city's Association of Intellectuals.

The ceremony, in the city in Cizîrê Canton, was attended by hundreds. A host of representatives attended from the canton's art and culture ministry, the grassroots women's movement Yekîtiya Star, the Selam Youth Association and the Assyrian and Syriac community.

"Our intellectuals, insofar as they reflect the reality of society, are carrying this society forward and taking a historic step," said Berivan Xalid, of the canton's Ministry of Culture and Art.

Local women intellectuals Leyla Ibrahim, Efaf Heskî and Bihar Eynê were present at the ceremony.
