Southern operation in Kobanê gaining speed

KOBANÊ – YPG/YPJ forces report that their push in the southern area of Kobanê province, launched together with Burak Al-Firat, has been continuing to push back Daesh occupation from several villages.

On Thursday, YPG/YPJ and Burkan Al-Firat forces launched an operation in memories of the fighters who lost their lives on February 22, 2015. The groups launched the “Revenge Operation for the Girik Martyrs” on Thursday, in a push across a 15-kilometer front from Sedar Hill to Martyr Qert village.YPG/YPJ and Burkan Al-Firat forces carried out several attacks on gang positions, liberating threevillagesand the strategically important Martyr Hecî Hill.

The forces moved on to the village of Irne, near the village of Davi. The gang groups attempted to attack Irne village with a bomb-laden vehicle, but the resistance forces destroyed the vehicle before it reached the targeted area. YPG and Burkan Al-Firatforces continued to search and clear occupying Daesh forces.

According to a YPG Press Center statement issued yesterday, six gang members and two YPG/YPJ fighters who played a major role in the operation in southern Kobanê canton lost their lives.

Meanwhile, in the eastern Rojava canton of Cizîrê, clashes continued around the city of TilTemir, long struggling with Daesh attacks. YPG/YPJ forces launched attacks on Daesh-held villages southwest of TilTemir. One gang member was reportedly killed in the clashes. YPG/YPJ forces also launched another attack on the gangs on the line between TilMixas and TilMisase, leaving one other gang member dead.
