YPJ fighter Şerife buried in Diyarbakır

AMED – YPJ fighter Şerife Baran (nom de guerre Stêrk Hakkari) was buried yesterday in Diyarbakır, as requested in her will.
Şerife, originally from the eastern province of Hakkari, lost her life fighting Daesh in Kobanê on February 4. A crowd of hundreds marched her coffin, wrapped in the red, green and yellow of the Turkish flag, to the mosque in the Yeniköy Cemetery. It was women who bore Şerife to her gravesite as the crowd chanted slogans including "martyrs never die."
"Those who help the imperialists, know well: there are thousands of Stêrks," said MEYA-DER Co-Chair Mehmet Yaşar. "We know that Mother Tolê is sad, but thanks to their sacrifices, we feel strong.
Representatives from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), MEYA-DER (an organization that provides solidarity with the families of those lost in Mesopotamia) and the Peace Mothers attended the cemetery.
