IZMIR – After an Iranian graduate student in Izmir accused a local bureaucrat of rape, the local governor has apparently blocked investigations into the suspect.

A graduate student from Iran studying at Izmir’s Ege University stepped forward to file a report of rape against the provincial state administrator in charge of associations, a man named B.K. B.K. was removed from duty for an investigation. Today, local governor Mustafa Toprak stepped in to ensure that B.K. was transferred to duty in the faraway province of Hatay.

It is unknown whether the investigation into the rape suspect will continue.
