DIRBÊSPIYÊ – Women in the Rojava city of Dirbêspiyê celebrated the founding of new women’s communes in the city. Representatives of women’s group Yekîtiya Star says the city now has five women’s communes.

The form of the commune has become the signature way that women organize economic and social life in the Rojava cantons. Women held a meeting in the Rojava city of Dirbêspiyê to celebrate the spread of the commune system. The women voted for commune leadership and the membership of the education, health and defense committees.

Arjîn Viyan of Yekîtiya Star noted that the commune system is key to the Rojava revolution.
