HESEKÊ – Rojava women in the Rojava city of Hesekê yesterday wished a happy May Day to all working women of the world.

Yekîtiya Star women’s organization activist Hediya Ehmed is both involved in the women’s movement and supporting her family.

“A woman is a worker,” said Hediya. “Men just work for a wage, but women work in all areas of life. But women’s work is not visible.”

Hesekê woman Sozan Mihemed said that this was why even in developed countries, women faced the same problems of exploitation and bearing the burden of labor. She said this was why women needed to organize as one.

“We women aren’t bowing our heads to those who oppress us anymore,” said Sozan. “Today, we’re organizing as women in all areas of life.”
