AGIRÎ – Yesterday afternoon, civilians who headed to the scene of a Turkish military mobilization succeeded in stopping the soldiers' operation.

In the early hours of yesterday morning, Turkish forces deployed soldiers, helicopters and armored vehicles near the Karakoyun village on Mt. Qertavin, in Ağrı province. Local civilians from the district of Tutak noticed the mobilization and headed to the rural area to stop possible clashes.

The first to head to the scene in the area between Patnos, Tutak and Malazgirt were the local Koçer people. Later in the day, a crowd of people including activists from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) headed to the area.

When the crowd arrived, the soldiers were forced to withdraw from the rural Mt. Qertavin area towards the Malazgirt countryside. The people stayed at the scene after the withdrawal.
