SHENGAL – The Shengal Êzidî Women's Assembly, criticizing the Iranian regime's policies towards the Kurdish people, announced that they intend to get revenge for Ferinaz Xosrawanî and all women.
Ferinaz Xosrawanî was a young Kurdish woman in the Eastern Kurdish city of Mahabad, Iran who lost her life escaping a rape attempt by an Iranian intelligence officer on May 4. Her death launched a wave of protests and riots in Mahabad.
"All powers have institutionalized their existence by taking away women's will," said the Shengal Êzidî Women's Assembly in a statement. "Like all forces of power, Iran and the Islamic State see women's liberation as a threat to themselves and attack women." Êzidî women on Mt. Shengal have organized a women's self-defense force, YPJ Shengal, to defend themselves in the wake of Daesh attacks. They promised that they would get revenge for Ferinaz and all women in their military activities.
The Assembly called on Kurds across the four parts of Kurdistan and abroad to support Ferinaz's resistance as Kurds in the Eastern Kurdish cities of Mahabad, Sine, Bokan and elsewhere did with their protests.
