NEWS CENTER – In Turkey's southern province of Antalya, police arrested 10 protesting the first anniversary of the Soma massacre, the mine disaster in which 301 miners lost their lives one year ago.

Workers and protestors gathered across the country in dozens of provinces yesterday to commemorate the first anniversary of the Soma mine collapse, in which 301 miners lost their lives due to the ruling AKP government and the Soma Mining Company not enforcing safety precautions.

As the commemoration for the Soma mine disaster was winding down at Antalya's Akdeniz University yesterday, police and private security intervened against the protest, violently arresting 10 students.
