Rally for Ferinaz in Mersin

NEWS CENTER - Hundreds of women marched in Mersin province for FerinazXosrawanî, who died in Mahabad nearly two weeks ago.
Ferinaz, a young Kurdish woman working at the Tara Hotel in Mahabad, died attempting to escape a rape attempt by an Iranian intelligence officer on the fourth floor of the hotel. She died falling from the balcony as she attempted to escape. Her death launched days of protests and riots in Mahabad.
Women marched in the hundreds in the southern Turkish city of Mersin, chanting "woman, life, freedom." The march was led by women with erbane percussion instruments, members of the MKM (Mesopotamia Culture Center). The women marched from the HDPAkdeniz district building to LeylaŞaylemez Park. Congress of Free Women (KJA) and DEM-GENÇ (Democratic Youth Federation) called the march.
"Women will improve their self-defense everywhere against the male dominant nation-state culture," said ZilanBaran. "Hundreds of women die of male violence everyday. The women marched for the scream of ÖzgecanAslan yesterday, and now for Ferinaz."
