Police shoot 10-year-old child in Yüksekova

NEWS CENTER – In the Kurdish city of Yüksekova, a 10-year-old child has been hospitalized after police shot him in the eye with a rubber bullet outside of his home.
With Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu coming to the Kurdish city of Yüksekova for the opening of an airport yesterday afternoon, massive crowds gathered to protest the presence of the AKP politicians. As police attacked the gathering, youths fought back with stones and barricades, according to frontline reports from the clashes by Dicle News Agency.
One youth was arrested and a 10-year-old boy named Dursun İşleyen was shot with a rubber bullet while standing outside his home. Dursun was rushed to the hospital in the city of Van, several hours away, for treatment. His father, Kemal İşleyen, says the family will be filing a criminal complaint against the police and denounced the police violence in the city.
