Peace Monument in 20 Languages in Pertek

DERSİM - 12th Munzur Nature and Culture Festival began with the opening ceremony of “Peace Monument” in Pertek. Peace Monument was inaugurated in Pertek town on the first day of Munzur Nature and Culture Festival . Many people attended the opening ceremony of the monument which is written ‘peace’ word in 20 languages.
“Recognize the Dersim Genocide , Dams are the Second 38 ! Awaki Ma Diya Kes Newino ! (We have seen wish no one else see again !)” is the slogan of the 12th Munzur Nature and Culture Festival which is began in Pertek town with welcoming ceremony. In the welcoming at the ferry pier arriving guests danced with drums and zurna.
Peace in World Languages
After the welcoming ceremony the Peace Monument was inaugurated by Pertek Municipality in the Hozat Junction.
Architects of the Peace Monument Yusuf Babayiğit,Mehmet Latif Sağlam and Uğur Orhan are also attended the ceremony . Pertek Mayor Kenan Çetin stated he is opposed to wars conducted in this region and around the world: ” We are crying out the brotherhood of peoples. Today,we are opening the statue which written peace in 20 languages in Pertek. This decision given by our people's assembly. We say that with differences world could be equal and free”he said.
Ferhat Tunç : Who Proponents Peace are Standing Trial
The artist Şanar Yurdatapan stated in his speech firstly as a human he is against the war : ” Latif Sağlam said when they made this statue they inspired by the song of peace which we did 40 years ago with Melike Demirağ . Those days Kurdish word was unutterable for us . After 40 years war policies are still continues.”he said.
Singer Ferhat Tunc said that the prosecution of people who defend the peace continues , no matter in which language people should not be afraid of the word of peace.” he said.
One of the creators of the statue Mehmet Latif Sağlam in his Kurdish speech he said they wishes the statue could be a contribution to ensuring peace.
After speeches the participants sang "Savaşa Hayır"(No to War) song with Ferhat Tunç.
