NEWS CENTER –Tibetan woman Sangy Tso carried out a self-immolation protest against the Chinese occupation in Tibet yesterday.

According to the news website Free Tibet, Sangy set herself on fire at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27. She carried out her protest at the entrance of a government office in the eastern Tibetan province of Chone County. Sangy, 37, was a mother of two children.

Local people report a heavy deployment of security officers and restrictions on movement in the wake of Sangy's protest. Security personnel are currently interrogating Sangy's family in their home. She had sent a message to them about an hour before the action.
