SERÊKANIYÊ – After YPG/YPJ fighters were clearing villages recently freed from Daesh occupation near the Rojava city of Serêkaniyê, they found a seriously wounded woman who had been brutally attacked by Daesh. Serêkaniyê women took part in a funeral for the young woman.
YPG/YPJ forces were sweeping the village of HesnaRojhilat, recently liberated from Daesh occupation, when in one house they found a woman stripped naked, with her hands and feet tied and with a serious gunshot wound. They rushed her to the hospital, but she lost her life in transit. Doctors said she had been mentally disabled.
Women in the city of Serêkaniyê came together to bury the woman recently, although they did not yet know her name.
"As women here, we stand up for every slain woman," said SedîqaMislim, one of the Serêkaniyê women who joined in the burial ceremony. She noted that the Daesh gangs were not just the enemies of the Kurds, but of all peoples and all women. "I'm calling on all states [of the world]: let them see the way Daesh tortured women. And let all women stand up for one another."
