GIRÊ SPÎ – The YPG Media Center reported yesterday that the town of Ayn Îsa was liberated from the Daesh gang yesterday. The forces are now approximately 50 kilometers away from Daesh's "capital" in Raqqa.
YPJ/YPG and Burkan al-Firat forces initially started the Commander Rubar Qamişlo Initiative, named after a fallen YPG fighter, to push Daesh out of the western part of the Cizîrê Canton of Rojava. The initiative won its major victory so far last week, when forces took the city of Girê Spî (Tel Abyad), along the border with Turkey. The city had been under Daesh occupation for two years.
YPJ/YPG forces are now advancing from Cizîrê Canton into territory south of Girê Spî. YPJ/YPG forces first liberating a number of villages south of Girê Spî, as well as wheat silos near the village of Elî Beceliyê. The forces next advanced to the town center of Ayn Îsa. There, YPJ/YPG forces confiscated a large number of guns and ammunition.
