AMED - After filmmaker Lisa Çalan was wounded in the June bombing of the Diyarbakır HDP rally, women filmmakers have started a campaign for those wounded in the bombing.

On June 5, a bombing struck the rally for the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in the city of Diyarbakır, Turkey. Among the hundreds of wounded was Lisa Çalan, a filmmaker at the Middle East Cinema Academy. Lisa lost both her legs in the bombing, in which two bombs packed with buckshot killed five and shattered the limbs of many.

Women filmmakers have now launched a solidarity campaign for Lisa and the other wounded victims. The women are raising money to purchase prosthetic limbs for the victims of the attack in a campaign called "let's be arms and legs to each other."

Yesterday, the filmmakers visited Lisa in the hospital to tell her that she had thousands supporting her and that she would never be alone.

Lisa will be going into her second surgery in ten days. In the meantime, she says, she will be working on screenplays.
