Turkish airstrikes against Kurdish guerrillas ongoing

NEWS CENTER - Turkish army warplanes and UAVs continue their activity over the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones today.
According to news agency ANF, Turkish aircraft started another round of shelling of the Xakurkê area of the Medya Defense Zones (held by Kurdish guerrilas) as of 8:40 this morning. The planes had taken off from the 8th Main Jet Base Command in Diyarbakır at 7:55 this morning.
Turkish jets have also been active over the Xinerê and Kandil areas this morning. At around 8:40 p.m. yesterday, aircraft of the Turkish military also shelled the Haftanin, Xakurkê and Zap areas, as well as the Cilo Mountains in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari. The jets had taken off from Diyarbakır at 8:00 p.m.
The bombing in the Xakurkê area, which targeted the regions of Berekeşk and Kurêmizgevta, has started a fire in the area, local sources report. Local people have had to leave their mountain plateaus.
