Women protest for Ekin Wan

NEWS CENTER - Women protested the killing and torture of the body of guerrilla KevserEltürk (Ekin Wan) in cities across Northern Kurdistan (in Turkey) yesterday.
KevserEltürk (nom de guerre Ekin Wan) was a member of the YJA STAR women's guerrilla force. She was killed near the town of Varto. Turkish police then dragged her naked body by a rope and shared a photograph of it on social media.
In Ekin's native province of Van, women marched across the city chanting the slogan, "Comrade Ekin is our naked resistance." The march, called by the women's group Congress of Free Women (KJA), encountered police opposition, but the women kept marching.
Women in multiple cities condemned the torture and treatment of Ekin's body. The Peace Mothers Assembly called protests in Nusaybin and Diyarbakır. Women held press conferences in the towns and cities of Gürpınar, Kızıltepe, Cizre, Batman and Iğdır.In the city of Mardin, Congress of Free Women (KJA) activists led a march for Ekin and all women whose bodies are used as a battlefield by the state.
