ELAZIĞ - Police have arrested 10 women protesting war in Turkey in the city of Elazığ.
Yesterday, the Congress of Free Women (KJA) and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) issued a call for a march to protest the AKP's war policies in the city of Elazığ. Police denied permission to the march. Women started a sit-in to protest the police.
The crowd was about to disperse after KJA member Zeynep Gedik read a statement. The statement called for an end to the war and to politics of war on women's bodies. That was when police attacked the women with tear gas and water cannons. Police arrested at least 10 women.
