NEWS CENTER – Political prisoners associated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Turkey have ended their hunger strike after one month.

On August 15, political prisoners in Turkish prisons affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Party of Free Women of Kurdistan (PAJK) started a hunger strike. They demanded an end to the state’s isolation of jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan; the Turkish state’s refusal to surrender the bodies of Kurdish fighters who died in Rojava to their families; and the police raids against thousands of Kurdish activists.

Prisoners Deniz Kaya and Kajin Peri announced that the PKK and PAJK prisoners have called an end to the hunger strile. They sent their greetings to the Kurdish people struggling in resistance and fighting for democratic autonomy.
