AMED - In the district of Sur, in Diyarbakır, Turkey, intensive attacks against local people are ongoing. A group of women are keeping watch in the neighborhood until the attacks end.

Women’s organizations in Diyarbakır have been keeping watch in streets where intensive attacks have been occurring for three days. The women started the watch in the Hasırlı neighborhood, which was the most damaged by the attacks. Yesterday the women, including women employees of the municipality of Yenişehir and women of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), kept first watch. Dengbej bards who came from the House of Dengbej supported the women’s action. The Peace Mothers Assembly will take over the watch.

The watch will continue until the attacks end. Women have called on everyone to join their action.
