ŞIRNEX – In the town of Cizre, Nidar Sümer (17) and Halis Sümer (45) left their homes yesterday evening to obtain water when their households ran out. Both died after special operations police opened fire on them.
For 26 days, Turkish state forces have maintained a 24-hour curfew in the town of Cizre, shooting all residents who leave their homes. The blockade has made it extremely difficult for residents of the Dağkapı neighborhood to obtain water.
When the water ran out in their household, Nidar Sümer and Halis Sümer left the house to go to a neighbor for water. Special operations police opened fire from an armored vehicle, wounding the two. The wounded citizens were taken in an ambulance to the hospital, but did not survive.
