AMED – Snipers shot 17-year-old girl Rozerin Çukur in front of her home as the ongoing blockade on the Sur district of Diyarbakır intensified today.

For 37 days, Turkish state forces have maintained a blockade on the Sur district, Diyarbakır’s historic old city. An intensive artillery bombardment starting early this morning set fire to a number of houses, while police demolished other homes with digging machines. 17-year-old Rozerin Çukur was shot and killed by snipers outside her home near the Süleyman Nazif Primary School in the Hasırlı neighborhood.

Rozerin’s body has been transported to a home where the body of another child killed in the attacks, Ramazan Öğüt, is already being held. The attacks continue to prevent the burial of the two children’s bodies.

Clashes have intensified in the area of the Yogurt Bazaar and the Four-Legged Minaret.
