RIMÊLAN – The first conference of women municipal workers in Rojava has come to an end, with the 220 delegates approving decisions to build new services for women and to renew the legal code.

Women working in local government from across the Rojava cantons traveled to the city of Rimêlan yesterday for the First Women’s Municipality Conference, under the slogan “we will create an ecological and free society with women’s leadership.”

The 220 delegates have released a final declaration calling for new measures such as the opening of women’s offices in all municipalities and renewal of the code of law.

The debates at the conference also touched on subjects like the opening of women’s libraries; the construction of children’s centers; the generalization of women’s cooperative projects; the creation of employment for women; and the construction of cinemas.
