MEREŞ – Women gathered today in the Elbistan region at the grave of Fidan Doğan, one of the three Kurdish revolutionary women slain in Paris three years ago.

In Paris, on January 9, 2013, three Kurdish women politicians—Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez—were assassinated. Today, women traveled to the grave of Fidan Doğan in the village of Malebutton in Elbistan. Hundreds of women were among those who came to the memorial.

The women held a moment of silence. After this, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) representative Besime Konca spoke, promising that women would walk in the footsteps of Sakine, Fidan and Leyla.
