İZMİR – The 23 women detained at a protest honoring slain Kurdish women in İzmir on Saturday have been released.
Members of the women’s organization KJA (Congress of Free Women) in the city of İzmir, Turkey called a memorial on Saturday to honor six Kurdish women politicians who have been assassinated—in Paris in 2013 and in the town of Silopi one week ago. Police attacked the women, detaining 29.
23 of the women were sent to court with a call for their arrest. They testified in court yesterday and were then released.
